Prof. Dr. Alim Al Ayub Ahmed, PhD, MBA, BBS (Hons), MEd is an academic, researcher, editor, and consultant whose professional career spans university teaching, research, academic administration, scholarly publishing, research development, and digital scholarship.
Biography
Academically trained in Accounting and Information Systems, Dr. Ahmed's research focuses on the intersection of accounting, governance, and emerging technologies. His principal areas of interest include Accounting Information Systems, financial reporting and disclosure, corporate governance, artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain and distributed ledger technology, audit and compliance, financial transparency, business intelligence and data analytics, scholarly communication, and research visibility.
Dr. Ahmed served as Dean of the Faculty of Business at Fareast International University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, from May 2023 to April 2025. During the same period, he also served as Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and contributed to institutional academic planning, curriculum development, assessment, faculty coordination, quality assurance, and university-level academic activities. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Fareast International University and as a member of the university's Academic Council.
Previously, he was associated with the School of Accounting at Jiujiang University, Jiangxi, China, where he served in professorial and research roles. During his academic career in China, he also contributed to research activities at Jiujiang University, including participation in a research project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
His academic career also includes appointments at ASA University Bangladesh, Asian University of Bangladesh, Pundra University of Science and Technology, and the State Institute of Business Administration and Computer Science. Across these institutions, he has accumulated more than two decades of experience in higher education, teaching, research, and academic administration.
Dr. Ahmed has also received institutional recognition in the AD Scientific Index, including No. 1 rankings at Jiujiang University across multiple research-impact indicators in several ranking editions.
His scholarly work has been published across internationally indexed journals and academic outlets, including publications represented in Scopus and Web of Science. His research has addressed accounting disclosure, banking and financial performance, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, technology-enabled accounting systems, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and interdisciplinary applications of emerging technologies.
Beyond journal articles, his scholarly contributions include academic books, book chapters, conference proceedings, technical works, patents, registered designs, and other intellectual contributions.
Dr. Ahmed is actively involved in scholarly publishing and editorial service. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Asian Business Review and Managing Editor of the American Journal of Trade and Policy, alongside other editorial, reviewing, and professional academic activities. His work in scholarly communication includes publication ethics, metadata and research infrastructure, digital scholarship, research visibility, citation management, and academic profile development.
He is the Founder and CEO of Asian Business Consortium and maintains professional and scholarly engagement with organizations and communities associated with accounting, engineering, blockchain, scholarly publishing, and research communication.
A continuing area of his professional work is digital scholarship and research visibility, where he supports researchers and academic professionals in improving the discoverability, organization, and presentation of their scholarly work across academic platforms. This includes work related to Google Scholar and other scholarly databases, within a broader focus on responsible research visibility and academic communication.
Dr. Ahmed continues to pursue research and professional activities connecting accounting, artificial intelligence, blockchain and distributed ledger systems, financial transparency, data analytics, and responsible digital scholarship while maintaining international academic and research collaborations.
